Basketball Game Preview: Empower College Prep Wolf vs. Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes

The Empower College Prep Wolf will square off against the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Empower College Prep's offense hasn't had much luck over their past four games, but Tuesday's matchup will give them a chance to turn things around.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Empower College Prep turned things around against Imagine Prep Coolidge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 24-13.

Meanwhile, Heritage Academy Gateway had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past the Eagles, posting a 60-4 win. Given the Heroes' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Eagles are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heritage Academy Gateway is also on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.6 points per game. As for Empower College Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.

Empower College Prep came up short against Heritage Academy Gateway in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 59-47.
