Softball Recap: Chester Beats CORE Butte for Their Third Straight Win

Chester won against Burney last Thursday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Volcanoes walked away with a 6-1 win over the CORE Butte Lynx. The victory was familiar territory for the Volcanoes, who have now won three contests in a row.

Brianna Dean made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Jenna Schlueter was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

Chester's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for CORE Butte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chester will host Plumas Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something the Volcanoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for CORE Butte, they will welcome Burney at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Lynx's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
