Recap: Conway Tigers vs. Sumter Gamecocks
The Conway Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 43-29 fall against Sumter. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Conway in their matchups with Sumter: they've now lost six in a row.
John Peeples was on fire for Sumter: he rushed for 198 yards and five touchdowns. Peeples is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played.
Conway's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Ashley Ridge and 8-2 Myrtle Beach (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.3% over those games). As for Sumter, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Conway will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Sumter, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ashley Ridge at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Ashley Ridge's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.
