Preview: Holy Cross Knights vs. St. Francis Prep Terriers
Holy Cross has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the St. Francis Prep Terriers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis Prep took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Holy Cross, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Holy Cross beat Bishop Loughlin 51-41.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holy Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mona Okorie, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. Okorie is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Nafi Balde was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 19 rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, St. Francis Prep pushed their score all the way to 68 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between St. Francis Prep and St. Joseph-by-the-Sea wasn't particularly close, with St. Francis Prep falling 85-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game back in December of 2023 (57), St. Francis Prep still had to take the loss.
The win got Holy Cross back to even at 7-7. As for St. Francis Prep, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Holy Cross lost to St. Francis Prep on the road by a decisive 63-49 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Holy Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
