Softball Game Preview: Gulf Shores Dolphins vs. Wakulla War Eagles

The Gulf Shores Dolphins will be taking part in a tournament against the Wakulla War Eagles at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Gulf Shores' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Wakulla's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gulf Shores' tournament run continued when they took on Chattanooga Christian on Friday. The Dolphins came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 9-5.

The team relied heavily on Taylor Bjorgum, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Kaiser, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Wakulla sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Thomasville on Friday.

Wakulla saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Stephens, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Wakulla is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Gulf Shores, their victory bumped their record up to 24-13-2.
