Softball Game Preview: Annapolis Cougars vs. Romulus Eagles

Annapolis has gone a perfect 5-0 against Romulus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Annapolis is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over Crestwood on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Lexi Harleton 2026, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.3 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Clement 2025, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Annapolis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .897. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Romulus blew past Thurston 13-6. The game was the first time Romulus has beaten Thurston on their field since May 19, 2021.

Annapolis' win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Romulus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Everything went Annapolis' way against Romulus in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Annapolis made off with a 21-6 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
