Eastern Montgomery is 0-10 against Auburn since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mustangs will face off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eastern Montgomery's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Narrows 16-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won eight contests in a row.
Mary Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Chandler got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Brein got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Eastern Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Auburn made easy work of Fort Chiswell on Tuesday and carried off a 12-3 win.
Like Eastern Montgomery, Auburn also got a great game from a two-way player: McKenzie Booth. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Booth was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Skyler Hodges looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Auburn got a massive performance out of Ariel Mullins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Mullins has hit this season. Hope Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Eastern Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both Eastern Montgomery and Auburn just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Auburn struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eastern Montgomery suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Auburn in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
