Basketball Game Preview: Crawford Colts vs. Valley Center Jaguars

Two dominant guards in Mickelson Laguerre and Lincoln Zetmeir are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Crawford Colts will host the Valley Center Jaguars at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Valley Center took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Crawford, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Crawford beat Clairemont 53-49. That's two games straight that the Colts have won by exactly four points.

Meanwhile, Valley Center ended up a good deal behind Rancho Bernardo on Friday and lost 84-69. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 999th, while the Broncos are ranked 461st).

Crawford will have to contain Zetmeir as he made an impact in Valley Center's last game. He went 12 of 23 en route to 30 points and five assists. That was a full 43.5% of Valley Center's points, marking the 22nd time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Teter, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Valley Center's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Crawford, their victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4.
