Basketball Game Preview: Thunder Basin Bolts vs. Evanston Devils

The Thunder Basin Bolts will take on the Evanston Devils at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Thunder Basin has given up an average of 56.5 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Thunder Basin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Campbell County, who was ranked fourth at the time (Thunder Basin was ranked 15th). Thunder Basin snuck past Campbell County with a 63-57 victory on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bolts.

Meanwhile, Evanston hadn't done well against Star Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Sunday. Evanston came out on top against Star Valley by a score of 54-42.

Evanston has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. Thunder Basin now has a winning record of 11-10.

Thunder Basin took their win against Evanston in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 48-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thunder Basin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
