Softball Recap: Natalia's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Natalia was riding high fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Bandera last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Natalia Mustangs fell just short of the Hondo Owls by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 15-10 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Arabella Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Selyene Gallegos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Leyla Saenz was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Natalia's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hondo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Natalia will welcome Lytle at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for Hondo, they will square off against Cotulla at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th.
