Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. Carlmont Scots

For the second straight game, Sacred Heart Prep will face off against Carlmont. The Gators will host the Scots at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Sacred Heart Prep is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Sacred Heart Prep fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Carlmont on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Scots by a score of 6-5.

For Carlmont's part, they let Pano Koutoulas and Luke Tofigh run wild. Koutoulas got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Tofigh went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Tofigh a new career-high. Jason Tofigh was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Carlmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Carlmont and bumps their season record up to 11-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 9-15.

Carlmont's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Sacred Heart Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game.
