Baseball Recap: Albert Lea's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Albert Lea had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Wing Wingers, sneaking past 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Thursday.

Hayden Christenson was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Kermes was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Logan Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Albert Lea's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Red Wing, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-3.

Coming up, Albert Lea will head out on the road to take on Austin at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Red Wing, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Stewartville at 12:00 p.m.
