Lick-Wilmerding hasn't had much luck against University recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lick-Wilmerding barely beat Marin Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 8-1 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Oliver Gestwicki made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lick-Wilmerding is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-11 otherwise. Gestwicki was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Gestwicki wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nathaniel Emerson, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Emerson has posted since back in March. Another was Benjy Cho, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lick-Wilmerding hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, University waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Blues get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory.
Leo Felder was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mattie Grisso, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Lick-Wilmerding's record now sits at 9-11. As for University, their record is now 16-8.
Lick-Wilmerding might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from University in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
