Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

Roosevelt extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 4-17 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cleveland Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Roughriders have suffered since May 15, 2024.

Cal Hare and Zahir Hardy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hare went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hardy got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mitch Geiger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

As for Cleveland, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

On Cleveland's side, the team relied heavily on Miles Whipp, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Whipp a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Devlaeminck, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

While Roosevelt had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
