Baseball Recap: Wilmington Wins Going Away Against Reynolds

Wilmington won the last time they faced Reynolds and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Greyhounds put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-2 win. The Greyhounds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Shane Heller looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wilmington is 2-1 when Heller allows three or fewer hits, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Wilmington got a massive performance out of Freddie Zehetner, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Zehetner is becoming a predictor of the Greyhounds' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Chase Mitcheltree, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The victory got Wilmington back to even at 5-5. As for Reynolds, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Wilmington is set to challenge their familiar foe Greenville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Reynolds will square off against rival West Middlesex at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
