Basketball Game Preview: Portal Panthers vs. Appling County Pirates

The Portal Panthers and the Appling County Pirates will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Portal will head into Friday's match eager for some revenge after what happened against Statesboro: Portal managed to slip by Statesboro the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Portal was outmatched by Statesboro and fell 69-40. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 63rd).

Meanwhile, Appling County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 69-68 to Bacon County.

Portal's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Appling County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
