Football Recap: Hobbton Takes Down Lakewood in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hobbton walked away with it. They came out on top against the Lakewood Leopards on Friday by a score of 20-14 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-7 back in October.

Hobbton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amir Tate out in front who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Reginald Thompson helped out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobbton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Hobbton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.6 points over those games. As for Lakewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Looking ahead, Hobbton will challenge Tarboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven matchups. Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
