Softball Recap: Sweetwater's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Sweetwater put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Montgomery Aztecs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 19-0 back in February.

Emily Romero and Gabriella Sena did most of the damage at the plate: Romero scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Sena scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Ariana Tovar was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Sweetwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Sweetwater's record now sits at 6-0-1. As for Montgomery, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Sweetwater and Montgomery should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Sweetwater (ranked 155th) will meet Bayfront Charter (ranked 828th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Montgomery will square off against Crawford at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 368 places (243 vs. 611).
