Softball Game Preview: Senath-Hornersville Lions vs. New Madrid County Central Eagles

Senath-Hornersville hasn't had much luck against New Madrid County Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Senath-Hornersville is taking a road trip to challenge New Madrid County Central at 11:00 a.m. New Madrid County Central took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Senath-Hornersville, who comes in off a win.

Senath-Hornersville will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against North Pemiscot on Friday. Senath-Hornersville put the hurt on North Pemiscot with a sharp 18-3 win. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Senath-Hornersville got a massive performance out of Kylie Walker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Walker a new career-high. Brennan Lane was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, New Madrid County Central unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-0 to Oak Ridge on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Senath-Hornersville couldn't quite get it done against New Madrid County Central in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 as they fell 6-3. Can Senath-Hornersville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
