Baseball Recap: San Elizario Eagles vs. Ysleta Indians
San Elizario had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-23 to make it 17. They lost 14-2 to the Ysleta Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on Thursday.
As for Ysleta, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-13. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.9 runs.
For Ysleta's part, they got a great performance from Adry Botello as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Angel Flores and Octavio Sanchez did most of the damage at the plate: Flores got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Sanchez went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Sanchez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Santiago Osorio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
While San Elizario had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
