Baseball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Osceola Warriors

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will take on the Osceola Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Petersburg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Palm Harbor University, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. St. Petersburg put the hurt on Palm Harbor University with a sharp 7-1 victory on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Green Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Owen Landers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

At the plate, Leo Smith and David Di Angelo did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Di Angelo scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Smith a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Osceola narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hollins 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Royals: they've now won four in a row.

Luke Pembleton looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Vincent Ferrell, who scored a run and stole Two bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Futch, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

St. Petersburg picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5-1. As for Osceola, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
