It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Flour Bluff had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the McAllen Bulldogs 45-7. Considering the Hornets have won nine games by more than 27 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lucian Cruz produced another solid performance throwing for 250 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt. Jacob Cain was another key player, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Flour Bluff's defense stepped up as well, laying out McCoy Wolthoff eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Owen Beseda and Anthony Mimms, who racked up four sacks between them. Mimms is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last three games he's played. Kolton Strey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
The victory made it two in a row for Flour Bluff and bumps their season record up to 10-1. As for McAllen, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.
As of now, neither Flour Bluff nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
