Softball Recap: Washington Huskies vs. American Eagles

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mission San Jose, Washington was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the American Eagles with a sharp 12-5 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Washington needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Olivia Machuca made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Machuca was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Cassandra Price was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kayden Davis, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

On American's side, Jordon Jacobs was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Esther Wong, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3.

Washington's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for American, their defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will take on Head-Royce at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for American, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Irvington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. American is facing Irvington at the right time seeing as Irvington is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
