Baseball Recap: Wheatland Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wheatland walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Foothill Cougars on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Hughston Rodney, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan James, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wheatland's victory bumped their record up to 25-8. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 22-9.

Looking ahead, Wheatland is taking a road trip to face off against Roseville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
