Preview: Pinewood Christian Patriots vs. Bulloch Academy Gators
After two games on the road, Pinewood Christian is heading back home. They will take on The Bulloch Academy Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinewood Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Bulloch Academy likes a good challenge.
Pinewood Christian pushed their score all the way to 49 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Frederica Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did two weeks ago (35), Pinewood Christian still had to take the loss.
Despite their defeat, Pinewood Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Banks Booth, who threw for 388 yards and five touchdowns, and also caught a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Todd, who picked up 192 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Bulloch Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. Andrew's 42-7 at home. Considering Bulloch Academy has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bulloch Academy found their leader in underclassman Danye Garvin, who rushed for 172 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Garvin was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Ben Aaron, who rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Pinewood Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Bulloch Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Pinewood Christian skirted past Bulloch Academy 36-34 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Does Pinewood Christian have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bulloch Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
