Baseball Recap: Madison-Ridgeland Academy Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Madison-Ridgeland Academy dropped their record down to 16-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Hartfield Academy Hawks by a score of 6-4. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Aiden Peets was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Madison-Ridgeland Academy is 7-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Garrett Gardner was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Gunnar Swanson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Hartfield Academy, they pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

On Hartfield Academy's side, Wiggy Ball tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Ball has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, JP Abt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Jackson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Madison-Ridgeland Academy beat Hartfield Academy by a score of 12-2 on Friday.
