The matchup between Civic Memorial and Gillespie on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Eagles fell 11-8 to the Miners. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tyler Mills was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chase Butler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jack Piening, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Civic Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Gillespie, their record now sits at 9-7.
