Baseball Recap: Gilbert Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Gilbert and Williams Field have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Black Hawks by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 last Tuesday.

Hayden Leach made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Will Bates, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Gilbert's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Williams Field, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert will face off against Chandler at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Williams Field, they will square off against Desert Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Black Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
