The power rankings have been shaken up after a frantic week teeming with triumph and disappointment. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Stoneham was the better team in every quarter against Burlington last week and consequently the better team overall. Stoneham breezed past Burlington with a final score of 44 - 14. Stoneham made sure to walk the walk to justify being talked up as the big favorite. The combined 58 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Pinkerton (1st in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Londonderry (4th). Pinkerton enjoyed a cozy 34 - 14 win over Londonderry. Despite Pinkerton's victory, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up three spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Catholic Memorial (4th in the power rankings) and Xaverian Brothers (3rd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Of course, Catholic Memorial and Xaverian Brothers can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
