Baseball Recap: South Bend Washington Takes a Loss

South Bend Washington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-6 in the process. They came up short against the South Bend Riley Wildcats, falling 8-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 13-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for South Bend Riley, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

For South Bend Riley's part, Dominic Damp was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Damp has hit this season. Jorge Murillo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, South Bend Washington and South Bend Riley will both be playing East Chicago Central the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Panthers will host them at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
