Basketball Recap: Lincoln North Star Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Lincoln North Star came tearing into Thursday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Elkhorn South Storm 59-25. The Navigators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln North Star to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ani Leu, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Leu has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joyce Johnson, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Several Storm players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexa Eddie, who had five points and eight rebounds. Taylor Brumbaugh also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lincoln North Star's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. As for Elkhorn South, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Lincoln North Star didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-44 defeat against Millard North on the 15th. As for Elkhorn South, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-62 victory against Westview on the 14th.
