Game recap

River Valley (Mohave Valley, Ariz.) snapped Williams (Ariz.)'s 6-game winning streak, with a 56-8 victory on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Brady Viles in the first quarter, the Dust Devils led 22-0 at the half.

River Valley expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. RV scored three times in the third, including once on a Derek Advocate touchdown run.

Advocate and Joeseph Pherreigo ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Vikings. Advocate scored two touchdowns on the ground and Pherreigo added two as well.

Adrian Solano played well for Williams. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.

WHS's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Solano in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings came in allowing just 5.5 points per game this season. Williams struggled against the Mohave Valley school's offense, which entered the game scoring 31.3 points per game. Coming into the game the Dust Devils had allowed 22.7 points per game this year. River Valley held firm on the defensive front, and kept WHS well below the 45.5 points it had been averaging per game.

RV also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 41-6.

The loss comes after Williams defeated Page 49-13 last week. With the win the Dust Devils extended their winning streak to three games.

Williams (6-1) will play a V Section I game against Hopi next week, while River Valley (4-3) will take on Payson in a IV Section III game.
