Football Recap: Walhalla Comes Up Short

Walhalla extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were beaten by the Liberty Red Devils 70-42. On the bright side, the 42- point effort marked the Razorbacks' highest-scoring game to date.

Walhalla's loss came despite strong showings from Caleb Johnson and Nick Butler. Johnson threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes, while Butler picked up 210 receiving yards and three TDs. Ryker Dean got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

As for Liberty, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.2 points.

Liberty was led to victory by Zane Smith and Tanner Elrod. Smith gained 165 total yards and three touchdowns, while Elrod gained 144 total yards and three touchdowns.

Coincidentally, Walhalla and Liberty will both be playing Crescent the next time they take the field. The Red Devils will head out to face the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Razorbacks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd.
