Dowling Catholic is 8-2 against Ankeny since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:15 p.m. Dowling Catholic has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Saturday, Dowling Catholic made easy work of Bellevue West and carried off a 65-40 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Maroons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Iowa, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 71st in Nebraska).

Meanwhile, Ankeny waltzed into their matchup last Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over the Tigers. While the Hawks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ankeny's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Dowling Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything went Dowling Catholic's way against Ankeny when the teams last played back in February, as Dowling Catholic made off with a 50-27 win. Will the Maroons repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
