Softball Recap: Oak Grove Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Purvis

On Thursday, Oak Grove faced Purvis in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Oak Grove Warriors took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Purvis Tornadoes. The match marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Oak Grove's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Purvis, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will square off against Pearl at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Purvis, they will take on Picayune at 6:30 p.m. on March 21st.
