Football Game Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Truckee Wolverines + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Keeshawn Love and Ivan Esparza are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fernley Vaqueros will challenge the Truckee Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Truckee will be up against a hot Fernley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Vaqueros blew past Spring Creek 38-14 last Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

It was another big night for Bryce Stephens, who rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 85 yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fernley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Creek only rushed for 95.

Fernley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alex Juliot and Isaid Solis. Juliot got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Truckee). They blew past Dayton 42-6 last Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Dust Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Truckee's win came from a few key players Fernley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was C.J. Smith, who rushed for 203 yards on only 14 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Molt, who rushed for 111 yards and two scores on only nine carries.

Fernley's record now sits at 5-1. As for Truckee, their record is now 4-1.

Fernley couldn't quite get it done against Truckee in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 as they fell 17-7. Can the Vaqueros avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
