Soccer Game Preview: Poquoson vs. Nandua

The Poquoson Islanders will square off against the Nandua Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Poquoson's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Friday, Poquoson came up short against Smithfield and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Poquoson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Smithfield are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Nandua was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against Northampton, falling 4-1. Nandua haven't had much luck with Northampton recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Nandua's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Poquoson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-1.

Poquoson skirted past Nandua 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Islanders repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
