Basketball Recap: Calloway County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Madison Futrell and Jaycee Crouch

After flying high against Todd County Central last Tuesday, Calloway County came back down to earth. The Calloway County Lakers fell 55-44 to the Marshall County Marshals on Friday. The Lakers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Marshals earlier this season, when they won 52-42.

Calloway County's loss came despite strong showings from Jaycee Crouch and Madison Futrell. Crouch posted 15 points, while Futrell went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points. That's the most points Futrell has posted since back in February of 2024. Sayler Lowe was another key player, putting up five points and six assists.

Calloway County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 21-4. As for Marshall County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Calloway County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-38 loss against Graves County on the 11th. As for Marshall County, they will square off against Todd County Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 15th.
