The Oak Ridge Pioneers will head out on the road to challenge the Legacy Charter Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Legacy Charter took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Oak Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Oak Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Cocoa 14-4. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pioneers considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Kengel Navarro and Isaac Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Navarro struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Gomez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Oak Ridge is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-11 otherwise. At bat, Navarro scored two runs and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Gomez scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Gomez has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Santiago Velasquez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Oak Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't). Aaron Valle was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Oak Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cocoa only posted an OBP of .423.
Meanwhile, Legacy Charter lost 13-5 to Oasis Christian on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jake Threadgill was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Threadgill was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gaven Arana was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Chani Abreu, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Legacy Charter's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Oak Ridge, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oak Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Legacy Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
