Football Recap: Benton Comes Up Short Despite Landon Blankenship's Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

Benton extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They fell 59-48 to the Captain Shreve Gators. The Tigers were down 52-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Benton lost, don't look at Malachi Zeigler. Despite the final result, he threw for 373 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 70 yards and one score on only seven carries. Greg Chambers was in the mix as well, providing the Tigers with two TDs.

Even if they lost, Benton's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Captain Shreve's QB won't forget Landon Blankenship anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

As for Captain Shreve, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jamarcea Plater was his usual excellent self, rushing for 236 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 9 rushing touchdowns on the season. Another player making a difference was Cardarrian 'shawn' Devers, who picked up 156 receiving yards.

Benton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 42-35 win against Leesville on the 2nd. As for Captain Shreve, they have also already played their next contest, a 66-56 victory against Airline on the 3rd.
