Basketball Recap: Toronto Comes Up Short

If Toronto was feeling good fresh off their 55-22 takedown of East Palestine last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Toronto Red Knights fell 44-32 to the Southern Indians on Thursday. The Red Knights have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Toronto saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayna Reeves went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Toronto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Toronto's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Southern, their record is now 13-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Toronto will face off against Malvern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern, they will take on Medina Christian Academy in a tournament on February 15th.
