Basketball Recap: Cape Hatteras Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Eryn Ratliff and Paizley Schultz + How To Watch

Cape Hatteras extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-3. They fell 46-35 to the Manteo Redskins. Hurricanes fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Redskins since Monday.

Paizley Schultz and Eryn Ratliff certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Schultz shot 45% from the field on her way to 11 points and three steals, while Ratliff posted nine points and three steals. Schultz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Kaya Lyerly was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

As for Manteo, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0. The game was the first time they have beaten Cape Hatteras on their court since November 30, 2022.

Leading Manteo to victory were Player #15 and Hurley Williams. Player #15 went 8-for-14 en route to 20 points and three steals, while Williams earned seven points along with 13 boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Doxie Sulkowski, who put up seven points and 17 rebounds.

Looking ahead, Cape Hatteras will take on First Flight at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Manteo will be paying especially close attention to the Hurricanes' game: after the Hurricanes face off against Croatan, they'll take on Manteo again at 6:00 p.m. on the 9th.
