Basketball Recap: Horseshoe Bend Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Horseshoe Bend extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a blow against the Greenleaf Friends Academy Grizzlies, falling 75-36. The Mustangs were down 57-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Leading Greenleaf Friends Academy to victory were Zane Fillmore and Cash Warren. Fillmore dropped a double-double with 20 points and 12 boards, while Warren shot 57% from the field to rack up 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Fillmore is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least 12 every time he's taken the court this season. Jake Miller was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Horseshoe Bend will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Garden Valley at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Greenleaf Friends Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Notus at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' defense better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 60.5 points per game this season.
