Basketball Recap: Alexis Mattress' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pendleton over Stephens County

Pendleton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 39-27 to the Stephens County Indians. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 38-36.

Pendleton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alexis Mattress, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 18 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakely Branyon, who posted three points and 12 rebounds.

Pendleton's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Stephens County, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Pendleton will take on Madison County in a tournament on Friday. As for Stephens County, they will head out to take on Habersham Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
