Softball Preview: University Trojans vs. McGregor Bulldogs
The University Trojans will be taking part in a tournament against the McGregor Bulldogs at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as University comes in on three and McGregor on four.
University's tournament run continued when they took on Bosqueville on Thursday. The Trojans came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McGregor). They never let Waco get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Thursday. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11, 2025 (when they won 23-1).
A Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, McGregor got a massive performance out of L Hillis, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That hit was Hillis' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Clara Becknauld, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
McGregor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2025.
University's record now sits at 3-0. As for McGregor, their record is now 4-1.
