Metairie Park Country Day and Newman are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Metairie Park Country Day Cajuns will challenge the Newman Greenies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Metairie Park Country Day sitting on three straight wins and Newman on eight.

Metairie Park Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat De La Salle 83-52. The Cajuns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newman earned a 65-53 victory over King Charter on Thursday. Given the Greenies' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Jaguar are ranked 182nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newman's win came from a few key players Metairie Park Country Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Randy Livingston Jr, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cj Encarlade, who went 5-for-10 en route to 16 points.

Newman's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Metairie Park Country Day, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Metairie Park Country Day might still be hurting after the 46-25 loss they got from Newman when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Metairie Park Country Day avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
