Baseball Recap: Clear Lake Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

St. Helena typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Clear Lake proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Saints by a score of 5-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 back in March.

Adam Bruch JR spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Ryken Villanueva and Johnny Gonzales Jr did most of the damage at the plate: Villanueva went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Gonzales Jr went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Gonzales Jr is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Clear Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

Clear Lake has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for St. Helena, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-5.
