Basketball Recap: Dayspring Christian Academy's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Union Colony Prep last Tuesday, Dayspring Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Dayspring Christian Academy Eagles lost 61-39 to the Denver Christian Thunder on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Thunder are ranked 20th).

Despite the loss, Dayspring Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Peyten Reese posted 19 points and three steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Reese.

Denver Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anna Everett, who went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points and five steals. That's the most points Everett has posted since back in January of 2024. Kamiree Fuller was another key player, going 8 for 12 on her way to 18 points and four steals.

The defeat snapped Dayspring Christian Academy's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for Denver Christian, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Dayspring Christian Academy will welcome Lyons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Dayspring Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Denver Christian, they will head out to square off against Eagle Ridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver Christian is facing Eagle Ridge Academy at the right time seeing as Eagle Ridge Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
