Preview: Antioch Panthers vs. Fremont Tigers
The Antioch Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Fremont Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Antioch comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Saturday, Antioch came up short against Pitman and fell 50-37. While losing is never fun, Antioch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 929th, while Pitman is ranked 85th).
Meanwhile, Fremont was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Richmond 91-11 at home. With Fremont ahead 59-5 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Tyreese West was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Wheeler, who scored 16 points.
Amador Valley's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Antioch's defeat dropped theirs to 0-3.
Antioch beat Fremont 67-57 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Antioch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
