Basketball Game Preview: Durham Trojans vs. Colusa RedHawks

The Durham Trojans will face off against the Colusa RedHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Durham will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Last Monday, Durham strolled past East Nicolaus with points to spare, taking the game 49-32. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Spartans are ranked 1041st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Colusa's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 61-41 to Paradise.

Durham will need focus on slowing down Cade Smith, one of several Colusa players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 for 13 on his way to 14 points. What's more, Smith also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Castanon, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Colusa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Durham pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.9 points. As for Colusa, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Durham took their victory against Colusa in their previous meeting on January 7th by a conclusive 58-34. Will Durham repeat their success, or does Colusa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
